Occasional Emergency Food Assistance

The program provides emergency food for families, couples and individuals who live in Van Nuys zip codes 91401, 91402, 91403, 91405, 91406, 91411, 91423, and 91436. Services include groceries.
A two-day supply of groceries is provided for families, couples, and individuals. The amount of groceries provided varies according to family size. A typical bag of food includes canned goods and dry boxed goods. Assistance with groceries is provided once every two months. The program can assist 20 to 40 individuals or families each day.

Application Procedure
Walk in to apply. Assistance is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Picture ID for the head of the household and proof of residence is required. Birth certificates, medical cards or other proof that children are related are required as well as proof of legal custody, if it applies.
