Disease/Disability Information (Cancer)

The agency provides health services related to cancer for individuals who have cancer, their family and friends, nationally. Services include disease/disability information, medical information lines, support groups and voluntary health organizations. There are no geographic restrictions.

Disease/disability information for individuals with cancer and their family is provided by telephone education workshops, educational seminars, consultation with oncology social worker, fact sheets and internet links on cancer related topics. Educational seminars and consultations are also available for health care professionals who work with cancer patients.

Hopeline provides consultations with an oncology social worker on topics such as counseling, education about cancer, end of life concerns, home and hospice care, help in understanding how to communicate with your health care team, financial assistance, quality of life issues, support groups, transportation, treatment side effects and other services that may be in the individuals local area.

Support groups are facilitated by an oncology social worker and are provided on-line, by telephone or on-site support groups. The on-site support groups are provided in New Jersey and New York.
