Health/Disability Related Support Groups

Provider: LA LECHE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL INC

The organization provides health education and support for breastfeeding mothers nationally and internationally. Services include breastfeeding information, health-related support groups for breastfeeding mothers, helpline counseling, and printed materials. There are no geographic restrictions. In addition to the meetings, volunteer leaders staff a telephone hotline system in which a nursing mother can call for personal breastfeeding questions and advice from an experienced breastfeeding mother. The volunteers are trained by La Leche League International. If a volunteer does not answer, the call goes to voicemail and will be returned within 24 hours. The International organization provides printed materials on many aspects of breastfeeding and parenting. Most of these are available through the monthly meetings, however, they may be ordered on the agency's website. In addition, research articles, multi-lingual brochures and articles, and products related to breastfeeding are also available online.
