Occasional Emergency Food Assistance
Provider: CITY OF LAKEWOOD RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES - BURNS COMMUNITY CENTER
The program provides several food programs for people who live in Lakewood. Services include an emergency food program called Project Shepherd, and a brown bag program for seniors, age 60 and older. Services are restricted to Lakewood residents.
Project Shepherd provides a box of groceries with enough canned and packaged dry goods to last for several days. The amount and nature of the food given varies according to the size and type of family. Baby food, formula, diapers and personal care items may be added to a box if available. Food is given every two to three months.
The Senior Brown Bag program provides twice a month food distribution to low-income seniors. This distribution occurs at the Weingart Senior Center.
