Stolen Automobile Reporting
Provider: CALIFORNIA STATE HIGHWAY PATROL - LOS ANGELES COMMUNICATIONS CENTER
Emergency road services include assistance to disabled motorists, first aid and road closure bulletins. The agency also operates a communications center that accepts telephone reports of hazardous waste spills on the highway and provides highway safety information for the public.
The agency enforces all laws, rules and regulations which pertain to the use of California highways. It patrols the highways and issues traffic citations.
The agency provides and can refer people to nationally certified child passenger safety technicians for child passenger safety seat inspections.
The agency operates the Non-Emergency Reporting Line, that accepts reports of accidents, tow questions, suspicious activities or illegal acts on the highway.
The non-emergency freeway assistance program (511) allows motorists traveling along the freeway system in Los Angeles County only to use their cell phone to summon roadside assistance from their Auto Club or from the Metro Freeway Service Patrol. Services include changing flat tires, jumpstarting cars, refilling radiators and taping leaky hoses, putting a gallon of fuel in gas tanks, and if the Freeway Service Patrol cannot get the car running within ten minutes, it will tow the car to a safe drop location off the freeway.
