Unsolicited Credit Offer Opt Out Assistance
Provider: TRANSUNION
The agency also provides assistance for consumers who want to register complaints regarding inaccurate or obsolete credit reports or ratings, illegal divulgence of credit information, unethical or improper conduct of personnel or other inappropriate business practices.
Individuals who suspect they are, or are about to be, the victim of identity theft, can place a Fraud Alert with credit reporting agencies. A Fraud Alert lets creditors know to contact the individual before opening new accounts.
Individuals can restrict access to his or her credit report by putting a "freeze" on their credit. In that way, potential creditors and other third parties will not be able to get access to an individual's credit report unless the individual lifts the freeze. For more information, contact the agency directly.
