Welfare Rights Assistance (Older Adults)

The agency provides employment services for low-income adults, age 55 and older who live in Los Angeles county. Agency services are targeted, but not restricted, to the Hispanic community. Employment services are available only at the Los Angeles Office of the agency. Services include job search/placement, on the job training, prejob guidance and welfare rights assistance. There are no geographic restrictions.

The organization administers Project Ayuda programs throughout the nation including sites in Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Ventura counties. People may qualify if they are age 55 or older, low income, and physically able to hold a part-time job.

The program provides employment counseling; on-the-job training; referrals for supportive services which further enhance the persons' employability and self-sufficiency like ESL classes, consumer education, and nutrition classes; welfare and Social Security benefits advocacy; and job search/placement.
