The program provides family support services for parents of children, age birth to 3, living in the South Bay area. Services include certificate/forms assistance, family support centers, parent to parent networking, parenting materials, trainings and disability specific information and referrals. Services are restricted to families in Artesia, Carson, Cerritos, Harbor City, Harbor Gateway, Hawaiian Gardens, Hermosa Beach, Lakewood, Lomita, Long Beach, Manhattan Beach, Norwalk, Palos Verdes, Portugese Bend, Rancho Palos Verdes Estates, Redondo Beach, Rolling Hills estates, San Pedro, Santa Catalina Island, Torrance, Walteria, and Wilmington.
The Family Resource Center provides parent to parent emotional support, support groups and parent education workshops on many topics. The center also has a warmline/helpline, staffed by parents of children with disabilities, who provide support and resources. All calls are answered within 48 hours. Home visits can be arranged.
The center also maintains a lending library stocked with parenting materials such as books and videos which provides information for families of children with special needs.
The agency also presents seminars and workshops a year aimed at preparing families to help their special needs children to transition from Early Intervention programs to the public school system.
