Peer Support Services

Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH - MARTIN LUTHER KING JR CENTER FOR PUBLIC HEALTH - HEALING CENTER

The center provides mental health services for people of all ages in Los Angeles. Services include substance use disorder education/prevention, peer support and wellness programs. This is a Connecting to Opportunities for Recovery and Engagement (CORE) center. There are no geographic restrictions.

Mental health services include support, mental health wellness classes and connection to community resources. Healing workshops and trauma prevention services are also available. Services specific to teens are also available.

CORE centers provide a welcoming environment where individuals can ask questions about substance use disorders and get connected to prevention and treatment services. Services include prevention information and workshops on topics such as preventing teen substance abuse and vaping, understanding substance use disorders and treatment services, and recognizing signs of relapse; peer-to-peer support; and referrals for additional services.

Training on how to administer medication (naxolone) to reverse an opioid overdose may also be available.
