Psychiatric Medication Monitoring
Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH - AUGUSTUS F. HAWKINS FAMILY MENTAL HEALTH CENTER
The agency provides welfare-to-work support services for mentally/emotionally disturbed individuals who receive or are eligible to receive CalWORKs and live in the South area, (SPA 6) of Los Angeles County. There are special programs through the center's Latino mental health center for Spanish-speaking TANF recipients. There are no geographic restrictions.
Services may include general counseling services, including individual, couple and family therapy; in-person crisis intervention; medication monitoring; mental health evaluation; and psychiatric case management. An assessment for medical conditions which may aggravate the mental/emotional condition and appropriate referrals are also made.
If the child of a CalWORKs recipient has a mental or emotional disorder which constitutes a barrier to the woman's employment or further participation in the CalWORKs program, the program provides assessment, child guidance, family counseling and parenting skills development under the same conditions as the recipient herself. The program serves youth from birth to age 18.
Child care is provided and transportation assistance, such as van pick-up, taxi vouchers or bus fare, is provided on a case-by-case basis.
