Occasional Emergency Food Assistance

Provider: SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF MONTEREY PARK

The program provides emergency food for low-income residents of Monterey Park and neighboring cities, including people who are undocumented or who are homeless. The program provides a bag of groceries which contains non-perishable canned and packaged food. The amount of food provided varies with family size but is usually enough to last two days. People are assisted once and then the agency examines each case independently to determine if additional assistance is needed. Service area includes Alhambra, East Los Angeles, Montebello, Monterey Park and Rosemead.

A referral from 211 is required. 211 staff call for availability and reservation. Walk in for service. CADL, CAID, social security card or some form of identification for the head of household is required.
