Child Development Classes (Pregnant Women)
Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION - HEAD START AND EARLY LEARNING DIVISION
This county office administers early childhood education and comprehensive support services for families with children ages birth to five years old and pregnant women at no-cost in Los Angeles county. Services include age-appropriate education centers and/or family homes, parenting skills classes, prenatal support services, and other family resources. This division does not serve all areas of Los Angeles county; it can refer callers to the nearest sites by zip code. Additional services available for families of children and pregnant women attending the program include nutrition education, family services and referrals, disability-related services, health and dental screenings and mental health screenings.
The division also administers the LA County's Quality Rating and Improvement System, the program allows families to search for participating preschool's ratings at https://qualitystartla.org/participant-list/ . The public is not able to review or comment on program quality. In addition, this division operates the California Preschool Instruction Network, the program supports educator training and development, and the Inclusive Early Education Expansion Program (IEEEP) to increase access to early learning for children with disabilities.
