Recreational/Leisure/Arts Instruction
Provider: CITY OF DUARTE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT - BEARDSLEE PARK
The department provides recreational programs for people of all ages who live, primarily, in the City of Duarte and the surrounding communities. Services include aquarobics/aquatic exercise, city/county parks, dance instruction, physical fitness, recreational activities/sports, recreational/leisure/arts instruction, special events. Age and geographic restrictions apply for some services.
The Fitness Center includes a 25 yard swimming pool, a training pool, shower and locker facilities, racquetball and volleyball courts, an aerobic area, and an exercise room with weight training equipment. The center offers aerobics classes for people who are at different levels of ability. Aquatic activities and open swimming are available seasonally.
Classes for children and youth include ballet, tumbling, karate, and tennis. The parks also provide supervised sports, games, tournaments, and arts and crafts activities for youth during certain hours. In addition, the department sponsors special events like Easter egg hunts and holiday parties. The activities for adults include golf and tennis; softball leagues; and day and extended trips.
The Teen Center provides activities for high school students ages 13 to 18. Programs include boxing program, computer lab, a game room.
