Specialized Information and Referral (Transportation Issues)

The program provides information about local transportation services and transit conditions for people who are in Los Angeles County traveling to and from work. Services include specialized information and referrals for car, van, bus and transit services; road closures information, traffic bulletins/information and emergency road service. There are no geographic restrictions.

  The telephone line provides automated information about Metro bus lines; Metrolink schedules, park and ride lots and access vehicles; traffic updates and rail commuting information and opportunities in Los Angeles County. The same information is available on the website; individuals can create an account to access regular updates and store customized information. 

  The commuter ridesharing matchlist is for daily commuting and is designed to help form a carpool or vanpool with others who wish to rideshare on a regular basis. The matchlist can also be used during air quality emergencies or personal transportation emergencies.

  An online tool is also available for planning trips via public transportation.

  Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) provides non-emergency vehicle assistance for motorists in order to alleviate traffic congestion. People may use their cell phones and dial (511) to summon roadside assistance. Services include changing flat tires, jumpstarting cars, providing general assistance with breakdowns and overheating, and supplying one gallon of fuel to motorists who run out of gas. If FSP cannot get the car running within ten minutes, it will tow the car to a safe drop location off the freeway. FSP cannot tow vehicles to private repair facilities or residences or recommend service companies.
