Home Rehabilitation Services (Older Adults)

Provider: WATTS LABOR COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE - HANDYWORKER PROGRAM

The agency provides handyworker services for low to moderate income seniors age 62 and older in the City of Los Angeles who own and occupy or rent a single family dwelling and who reside in the service area. Renters must be 62 years and older or be a disabled individual. To qualify, people must meet the low or moderate HUD income guidelines, live in the service area, and provide verification that they own and occupy their own homes. Services are restricted to City of Los Angeles residents.

Renters must have their landlord's permission to have the work done. Staff assess the work to be done and whether it can be done by the program, and schedule a time to accomplish the job.

Handyworker services for homeowners include help with home improvements such as minor plumbing and electrical repairs, interior and exterior house painting, and installing screens and window glass. For renters services are only for safety installation of grab bars, shower seats and hand held shower heads.
