Health Related Advocacy Groups (Parolees, AIDS/HIV Issues)

Provider: CENTER FOR HEALTH JUSTICE

The center provides ex-offender services to men and women who were formerly incarcerated in the Los Angeles County jail system. Serivces include health related advocacy groups for ex-offenders on AIDS/HIV issues, including ongoing testing, risk reduction, and linkage to care management teams in the public health system.

The group provides several projects for ex-offenders: Project Home LA works with women whose male partners are incarcerated to educate both groups about the risk of acquiring HIV and other STDs.

Health Justice Test Link program works with recently released offenders to emphasize the importance of ongoing testing to be aware of their HIV status for the purpose of prevention, early diagnosis and treatment.

Positive Parolee Network program is a peer-run education and support group for individuals with HIV to keep them connected with medical care after their release.
