Occasional Emergency Food Assistance
Provider: DOWNEY COUNCIL PTA HELPS
The program provides emergency food for people who live in the City of Downey and/or have children in the Downey Unified School district, who are referred by a Downey school. Food includes non-perishable items. The amount of food provided varies with family size and time of year. Families may receive assistance a maximum of six times per year, in addition to assistance provided on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Services are restricted to Downey residents.

Application Procedure
A referral note from a school in the Downey Unified School District and the Community Services is required. An application for service is completed; social security numbers and birth dates for all family members as well as proof of residence are required.
