The agency provides services for older adults who are, primarily, residents of the City of Glendora. Services include caregiver support groups, case/care management for older adults, congregate meals, disability related support groups for stroke patients, a senior center, social clubs/events for older adults, specialized information and referral, stroke rehabilitation, and tax assistance.
The senior center provides a variety of educational, recreational and support services for older adults. Services at the center include a nutrition program for seniors age 60 and older; annual health fairs which include health screenings; the VITA tax assistance service; and a variety of classes and activities for seniors including computer clubs, excursions/trips, exercise classes, movies, arts and crafts, and volunteer opportunities.
In addition, the division coordinates with an organization, After Stroke, and Citrus College to provide education and support services for people who have had a stroke; the goal is to help participants regain independence, communication skills, and relationships. The recovery program is conducted at La Fetra Senior Center in Glendora; see the site list. The program also provides sessions and support for family and caregivers. There are no geographic restrictions.
