Senior Centers
Provider: CITY OF TORRANCE - SENIOR CITIZENS CENTERS - BARTLETT SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER
The center provides services for older adults age 50 and older who live in the Torrance area. Services include congregate meals/nutrition sites, legal counseling, medicare information/counseling, recreational activities/sports, recreational/leisure/art instruction, senior center, specialized information and referral and volunteer opportunities. Services are targeted, but not restricted, to Torrance area residents.
Staff provide phone and in-person information about and referrals to a wide range of community resources that may be of interest or assistance to seniors. They can also provide information about activities and services offered at the center. In addition, seniors may join the 5-0 and on the Go Association and receive a monthly newsletter which lists events and services at facilities throughout the area.
Volunteer attorneys visit twice a month and assists seniors with legal concerns by appointment. In addition Focal Point on Aging provides the information and referral to seniors, caregivers and their families.
The center provides a hot meal program 5 days a week for seniors who are interested in having lunch at the facility. It also provides a variety of recreational and social activities which include classes in yoga, aerobics, knitting and crocheting, beading, lapidary work, exercise, ceramics, and line dancing. Other activities at the center include sing-a-long's, shuffleboard, table games, cards, bingo, dances, matinee movie program (movie), a discussion group and guest speakers. People who join the 5-0 and on the Go Association are also eligible for a variety of trips and excursions.
