Premarital Counseling
Provider: PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY COUNSELING CENTER - WEST LOS ANGELES
The clinic provides counseling services for people of all ages who live in Los Angeles County. Services are targeted, but not restricted, to low-income people. Services include adolescent/youth counseling, anger management, bereavement counseling, child guidance, crime victim/witness counseling, disability related counseling, divorce counseling, gambling counseling/treatment, gender identity counseling, general counseling services, geriatric counseling, marriage counseling, overspender counseling, parent counseling, perinatal/postpartum depression counseling, premarital counseling, sexual assault counseling, sexual orientation counseling, sexuality counseling, and terminal illness counseling. The agency does not provide psychological testing or psychotherapy for court-ordered individuals. Therapists will not provide written reports to the court regarding custody determinations. The clinic does not provide emergency services and cannot accommodate people who have chronic or severe mental illness. There are no geographic restrictions.
Therapy plans are individualized and focus on client's needs; they may include different counseling approaches. Group sessions, when available, are therapist-facilitated and include topics such as depression and relationships.
Psychodiagnostic assessment services are conducted through intake interview and review of pertinent medical records, and are integrated into therapy plans; the clinical assessment process may include clinical psychological testing, if recommended by a clinic therapist; we are not accepting direct referrals for psychological testing at the current time.
Clinic staff provide educationally focused therapy for children and adults. Treatment plans are individualized and include diagnostic and evaluation services to address problems that interfere with school functioning such as ADD/ADHD, anxiety, conduct disorders, developmental disabilities, depression, emotional disorders and learning disabilities.
