Computer Literacy Training Programs

Provider: BALDWIN PARK ADULT AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION

The adult school provides adult education services for people age 18 and older in the San Gabriel Valley. Services include adult basic education, adult high school diploma programs, citizenship education, community adult schools, computers and related technology classes, English as a Second Language, GED instruction, independent living skills instruction, nutrition education, parenting skills classes, recreational/leisure/arts instruction and vocational education. There are no geographic restrictions.

The school also offers services for older adults and for people who have a variety of disabilities, and support services for all students including counseling, vocational guidance, babysitting for children age 2 to 9, assistance with job placement, and referrals to other educational or community services.

Vocational courses include automotive, barber program, electrician, food service and hospitality, medical assistant, pharmacy technician, and cosmetology.

The school accepts people who are preparing for employment through programs like WIOA and CalWORKS. Specialized vocational as well as independent living classes are also provided for people who have a variety of disabilities.

Parenting skills development classes are provided for court-referred people. The course is called Family Relationships and provides instruction in child development, family discipline, communication and other parenting skills. Other parenting classes include Parenting the Preschooler, Parenting the Adolescent and Day Care Worker.

The Health education courses include nutrition education for older adults and physical fitness programs for older adults.

Babysitting services are available for children ages 2 through 9 while their parents are in class. All children must be toilet trained and have up to date immunizations. Please verify babysitting hours at the time of enrollment, as the hours are subject to change. If a babysitting center closes due to lack of attendance, parents may be referred to another center.

GED tests are administered through the site.
