Ongoing Emergency Food Assistance (Older Adults)

The program provides emergency food for families, senior citizens and people who have disabilities who live in Los Angeles zip codes 90002 and 90059, including families who receive government assistance. Services include government surplus food distribution sites, and ongoing emergency food assistance. Ongoing emergency food assistance is restricted to residents of zip code areas 90002 and 90059. 

      The program provides bags of groceries that contain USDA surplus food, canned vegetables and fruit, and packaged dried goods. The amount of food varies with family size but is usually enough to last approximately three days.

Application Procedure
Walk in to apply emergency food. People line up during the distribution hours and are served on a first come first served basis. Proof of residence such as CADL, a CAID, a current utility bill and birth certificates for each child are required. People with disabilities must show proof of SSI or disability papers. Adults 52 years and older qualify as seniors.

Walk in for the lunch at distribution times. This program has a limited number of lunches available so it is recommended that people arrive promptly.
