The Central Office serves as the headquarters for the Bureau of Prisons. It consists of eight Divisions: Administration Division; Correctional Programs Division; Health Services Division; Human Resource Management Division; Industries, Education and Vocational Training Division; Information, Policy and Public Affairs Division; and Office of General Counsel that provide oversight of major Bureau of Prisons program areas and operations, as well as the the National Institute of Corrections.
The Western Regional Office provides a safe, humane, and ethical correctional environment for both staff and inmates, while ensuring public safety. It provides expertise in the development, approval, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of policies, operations, and programs for its 11 Federal institutions and 3 complexes, as well as contract services for inmates in residential reentry centers within the region.
