Provider: JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE OF LOS ANGELES - VALLEY STOREFRONT COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER
This is a multiservice and senior center that provides services for older adults in Los Angeles county. Services include blood pressure screening, case/care management for holocaust survivors, congregate meals, conservatorship assistance, in-home registries, legal counseling, recreational activities/sports, specialized information and referral and telephone reassurance. Age restrictions apply for some services; there are no geographic restrictions.
Social and recreational activities for seniors at the center may include arts-related programs, crafts, bingo, cards, discussion groups for men, and current events programs.
People age 60 and older may participate in the congregate meal program which offers hot kosher lunches during the week.
Services for holocaust survivors include case/care management and social connections through a weekly program called Cafe Europa.
The agency supports seniors with alternatives to institutionalization through case management service coordination of daily phone contact with people who are homebound or anxious; arrangements for counseling and financial planning for people who anticipate a move to a long term care facility; and linkage for people who want in-home assistance (see the separate entry under A Personal Care).
Protective services for people who are seriously impaired and have no other supports are available and may include assistance with daily living tasks like bill payment, check writing and money management; the agency may serve as legal conservator for an individual in some instances.
