Mental Health Assessment and Treatment
Provider: SPECIAL SERVICE FOR GROUPS - HOMELESS OUTREACH PROGRAM INTEGRATED CARE SYSTEM
The agency provides outpatient and field-based mental health services for individuals and families in Los Angeles. Services are targeted, but not restricted to Asians/Pacific Islanders. Services include individual, group and family counseling; case management; psychiatry and medication; dual-diagnosis service; and forensic or re-entry services for parolees. There are no geographic restrictions.
Outpatient mental health services are provided at three locations. A program targeted to homeless mentally ill adults ex-offenders is provided at the AB2034 Mental Health Program which is housed by the Central Mental Health site. The forensic (ex-offender) program provides intensive case management, behavior modification, anger management and support services such as employment assistance and housing search assistance. The agency also provides a substance abuse and mental health program for dually diagnosed homeless adults called the Homeless Co-Occurring Treatment Program. Upon screening, a licensed therapist will provide a treatment plan that may include mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, and life skills classes. Services are provided at the Homeless Outreach Program location on S. San Pedro Street or staff will go to the client.
The agency also provides a Client-Run Center (CRC) where support services are provided by peers who are themselves mental health consumers. Support includes peer to peer groups; social recreational programs and activities; referrals for community services, health and mental health resources.
See the separate entry: Asian Pacific Counseling and Treatment Centers for additional sites that provide comprehensive mental health services.
