Immigrant Rights Groups

Provider: COALITION FOR HUMANE IMMIGRANT RIGHTS OF LOS ANGELES

The agency provides immigration services. This is an immigrant rights group that provides specialized information and referral on immigration issues including referrals to social services; a hotline to place complaints regarding discrimination; hate crime advocacy; higher education advocacy; and public awareness/education on issues of immigration and employment discrimination against immigrants and refugees; it also provides information regarding the Public Charge determination. There are no geographic restrictions.

The agency provides referrals to these attorneys and organizations, who then provide their services at reduced fees. Rights counseling and legal assistance are provided by CHIRLA member attorneys and other community-based organizations.

The agency does provide some immigration-related legal services at a low cost. On-site legal services include Citizenship services, naturalization, family petitions, U Visas for victims of domestic violence, deportation defense, asylum, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Deferred Action for Parents of U.S. Citizen Children (DAPA).

The agency also serves as a networking source for immigrant rights groups, and sponsors committees for members on worker's rights, legal services, citizenship and public policy.
