The agency is a local public housing authority that provides housing services for low income residents of Pico Rivera. Services include rental assistance and housing rehabilitation programs. Income and geographic restrictions apply. There is an ongoing waitlist for the housing rehabilitation program.
Section 8 housing choice vouchers services (rental assistance) are currently ON HOLD. The agency is NOT accepting applications at this time.
The rental assistance program offers a limited number of Section 8 subsidized housing vouchers for residents who meet the very low-income requirements established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) office in Los Angeles County. Upon receiving a voucher the applicant has 120 days to locate a landlord who will participate in the program.
Housing Rehabilitation programs are currently ON HOLD. The agency offers various housing rehabilitation programs for homeowners who meet HUD's low income requirements, occupy their homes and who need assistance in financing basic home repairs such as plumbing, electrical wiring, painting, and roofing. A deferred loan program is available that postpones repayment at 0% interest until the house is sold, transferred to another owner, re-financed or reaches the 30th year. In addition to the loan programs, homeowners in Pico Rivera can also apply for a grant to pay for plumbing, roof repair and electrical repairs that cost up to $12,000.
The agency also offers adults 62 years and older and people who have disabilities a home paint-up and fix-up program which pays for paint, weatherization and safety improvements, such as locks.
