Sign Language Interpretation

The program provides services for people with disabilities who live in Los Angeles County, Inyo-Mono, Kern, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. Services include emergency and non-emergency sign language interpreters. There are no geographic restrictions.

Sign Language interpreters are available 24 hours, seven days a week for medical and law enforcement emergencies. People may call to request a sign language interpreter for any situation.

Application Procedure
Call or fax for services. Call the toll-free number for after-hours medical, mental health, and law enforcement emergencies only; call the office number for other business. Both numbers are accessible by voice and TDD. People who require paramedic or ambulance services call 911 first and then contact the agency if they want an interpreter to meet them at the hospital. Interpreters usually arrive within 45 to 60 minutes of the request.
Fees
There are fixed fees for hospitals and emergency related facilities for interpreter services. There are fixed fees for technical assistance and in-service training.
