Transitional Housing/Shelter

Provider: COVENANT HOUSE CALIFORNIA

The program provides temporary housing for runaway youth age 18 through 24 years in Los Angeles County, as well as youth 18 to 24 years of age who are HIV positive. The agency cannot serve pregnant youth. The average length of stay is determined on a case-by-case basis. There are no geographic restrictions.

The program provides bedding, linen, three meals per day and case management. Residents are required to assist with chores, participate in case management and abide by shelter rules. Secondary services include family reunification, case management, integrated health, mental health, and wellness programs, crisis intervention counseling, employment skills program, referrals and diversion to specialized services, on-site GED and HS prep, and substance abuse counseling. The program also provides transitional shelter for youth and assists in finding long-term shelter or independent living situations.

The shelter works closely with its partner agencies when necessary for youth who are younger than 18 years of age.
