Child Abuse Prevention

The agency provides outpatient mental health services for youth ages birth to 22 in Los Angeles County. Services include case management, child abuse prevention, family counseling, group counseling, individual counseling, parent child interactive therapy (PCIT), and wraparound facilitaton/community support. Age and geographic restrictions apply for some services.

The Outpatient Behavioral Health Services program includes individual counseling, case management, medication monitoring and support. Services are provided at the agency site and other places in the community when it is needed. Psychological assessments are provided as part of an ongoing treatment plan. Youth ages 0 to 18 may enter the program and services may continue until the youth is age 22.

The Wraparound faciitation/community support program is provided for court-referred youth in probation or in DCFS child abuse or foster care programs. Wraparound is conducted by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of a social worker case manager, a therapist and a parent "Partner". Sessions are conducted in the home and may involve just the child or the whole family as needed. The program accepts youth from ages 8 to 18, and may continue for one year or longer. The service area is L A County SPA 8.

Managing and Adapting Practice is targeted to youths ages 2 to 16 who are experiencing anxiety, hyperactivity, depression, disruptive behaviors, and traumatic stress. Treatment length varies.

Functional Family Therapy is targeted to youth ages 10 to 18 years old and focuses on assisting with the family with the way problems are perceived and handled. Treatment typically lasts 8-15 weeks.

Depression Treatment Quality Improvement Intervention targets youth ages 12 to 20 who are exhibiting maladaptive behaviors. Parents or caregivers are involved. Treatment typically lasts 12-16 weeks.

Parent Child Interactive Therapy targets children ages 3-8 and focuses on assisting parents in managing their child's behavior. Treatment lasts approximately 20 weeks.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy targets youth ages 3 to 18 and helps children and their families overcome trauma-related difficulties. Treatment lasts approximately 12-18 weeks. Parent Child Psychotherapy is targeted to children aged 0 to 5 who have experienced some form of stress or trauma which impacts their relationships with their caregiver. The primary caregiver must be able to participate in the program with the child. Treatment length may be up to a year or more.
