Street Maintenance

This is the government office for the city of South El Monte. Services include election information, city information lines, business licensing, building and occupancy inspections, permits, city maintenance, electronic waste recycling, and planning and zoning. Geographic restrictions apply for some services; business-related services are provided only for businesses located in South El Monte.
The city provides building permits, electrical permits, elevator permits, mechanical permits and plumbing permits for any contracted work done within city limits.
City maintenance includes graffiti removal, street maintenance, street construction/repair, street lighting maintenance and street cleaning.
Residential electronic waste may be recycled at the South El Monte City Yard by appointment; business waste and white goods (refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves or other large bulky items) are not accepted.

Application Procedure
Call or walk in for information or service or to apply for a business license; special permits may be required. Call the E-Waste extension to schedule a drop off.
Fees
There are no fees for most services. The fees for commercial business licenses include a one-time fee based on the square footage of the building and an annual license fee of $100 plus $10 per employee. The fee for a home-based business includes an occupancy permit fee of $25 plus the same license fees. There are fixed fees for various permits.
