The agency provides public safety services to individuals in Los Angeles County. Services include child passenger safety seat inspections, public awareness/education for domestic and family violence issues, gun violence issues, organizational development and management services and research on safety issues. There are no geographic restrictions.
The office works to reduce and prevent violence among residents in Los Angeles County. It measures and monitors the occurrence of violent deaths among specific population groups and develops and implements strategies to reduce the consequences of intentional and unintentional injury and death.
The agency collaborates in injury prevention with County hospitals and clinics, Service Planning Area offices, community-based organizations, and other agencies and groups within Los Angeles County. The program issues data on injury statistics for SPAs and other planning groups.
The program's website contains public awareness bulletins on many areas of safety concern such as seasonal safety tips; personal safety; violence prevention; gun violence; suicide; depression; school and playground safety.
The Gun Violence Prevention Platform program addresses gun violence impacting communities in Los Angeles County and across the United States. The program addresses gun safety legislation, social connections and healing services, gun violence restraining orders awareness and enforcement, and school safety-related services. The child passenger safety seat inspections number provides information about locations of inspection sites where Certified Child Safety Technicians will inspect the child safety seat, make sure it fits the child properly and ensures it is installed and located in the safest seat in the vehicle.
