Undesignated Temporary Financial Assistance

Provider: VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS

The agency provides services for active duty, reserve, and honorably discharged veterans in the United States. Services include scholarships, support groups, undesignated temporary financial assistance, and veteran benefits assistance. There are no geographic restrictions.

The Unmet Needs Program provides grants to eligible active-duty service members and their families, whose financial hardship is a direct result of a current deployment, a military pay error at no fault of the service member, or a current pending medical discharge due to service-connected injuries or illnesses received while on active duty. Grants may be used for daily necessities, including mortgage or rent, repairs, insurance, vehicle expenses, childcare expenses, and medical bills.

The "Sports Clips Help a Hero Scholarship" program provides eligible service members and veterans with financial assistance to complete their educational goals. Scholarships are restricted for tuition and fees only, and will be paid directly to accredited schools.

Advocacy is also available to help veterans apply for benefits assistance.

An online search tool connects veterans with online peer support groups.
