Mobile Eye Care

This is a comprehensive center for eye research, education, and patient care which provides inpatient and outpatient care for people of all ages who have eye diseases, disorders, or injuries. The institute provides a wide variety of treatment for people who have serious eye conditions including outpatient surgery and laser treatment. It also provides regular exams, eye glass prescriptions, and contact lenses. The center also provides information about eye conditions, referrals to private ophthalmologists, and a mobile outreach screening unit.
The agency also operates a 24-hour trauma clinic hotline. Staff assist people by phone with information about what to do and where to get help.
The institute accepts people who are referred by private physicians, self referral and emergency intake. It also provides consultation for physicians who work with people who have special ophthalmic problems.
Patients with eye emergencies should go to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center Emergency Department, available 24 hours per day.
The mobile eye clinic provides screening exams and referrals for treatment for groups of medically isolated and disadvantaged people. It also visits schools, senior centers, and community groups on request.
The agency also operates an eye donor program. Donated eyes are accepted for transplant and research. Tours of the facility can be arranged for community groups.
