Administrative Entities (Child Care Issues)

Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH - OFFICE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION

The program provides administrative services for child care programs in Los Angeles County, including planning, evaluation and implementation support. Services include administrative entities, child care provider training, planning/coordinating/advisory groups and scholarships for child care. There are no geographic restrictions.

The Investing in Early Educators Stipend Program increases the retention of teachers and family child care providers working in programs where the majority of children are on subsidized plans. Cash stipends are awarded based on the completion of college coursework that contributes toward a degree in child development. Additional stipends are awarded for earning an Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Arts, or Masters Degree in child development or a related field.

The Policy Roundtable for Child Care and Development is a Board of Supervisors appointed body with a mission to build and strengthen early care and education by providing recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on policy, systems and infrastructure improvement.

The Child Care Planning Committee works with parents, providers, community, and public agencies in collaborative planning efforts to improve the overall child care infrastructure of the County of Los Angeles, including the quality and continuity, affordability, and accessibility of child care and development services for all families.

Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge is a quality rating and improvement system focused on family child care homes and child development centers who primarily serve children age birth to five who are considered high-need. This may include low-income, infants/toddlers, dual language learners, special needs, homeless or under the supervision of child protective services.

Quality Start Los Angeles is a block grant focused on assessing, enhancing and communicating the quality of CSPP-contracted center-based programs serving three and four year old children to support improved outcomes.
