Family Counseling

The agency provides counseling services for children age three to 18 and their families who live in the greater Los Angeles area. Services include on-site and off-site child guidance, adolescent/youth counseling, court-ordered parenting, family counseling, individual counseling for self abuse issues, and special counseling programs for psychiatric disorders such as depression and/or behavioral problems. The agency also participates in the L A County DCFS Wraparound program. There are no geographic restrictions.

Staff provide services for children who are having difficulties at home, school or in the community. The focus of the counseling may include parent-child conflict, family communication, school problems or delinquent behavior. Services may be provided at off-site locations within the community.

Socio-emotional and behavioral therapy is provided for Medi-Cal recipients, ages 13 to 17, by referral from the CHDP program.

The agency provides a 10-30 hour long court-approved parenting education program. Staff will provide progress reports to the court if necessary; individuals receive Certificates of Completion at the end of the program.

The self-injury program provides counseling and family support for children, adolescents and adults who are engaged in a cycle of self abuse, including cutting.

The Wraparound facilitation/community support program is provided for court-referred youth in probation or in DCFS child abuse or foster care programs. Wraparound is conducted by a multi-displinary team consisting of a social worker case manager, a therapist and a parent "Partner". Sessions are conducted in the home and may involve just the child or the whole family as needed. The program accepts youth from age 8 to 18, and may continue for one year or longer. The service area is LA County SPAs 4, 5 and 8.
