The center provides services for people with disabilities who attend El Camino College. Services are provided for residents of Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, El Segundo, Lawndale, Lennox, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Torrance. Services include special education, sign language instruction, sign language interpretation and student disability services. Geographic restrictions apply.
The center offers special education classes and direct support services for students enrolled at El Camino College who have a physical, hearing, vision or learning disability to assist them to perform on an equal basis with non-disabled students in an integrated campus environment. El Camino College provides post-secondary education for people who live, primarily, in the cities of El Segundo, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Lawndale, Lennox, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Torrance.
The services provided include registration assistance, counseling and guidance, braille transcribing assistance, interpreters, textbook recording, mobility assistance, parking permits, tutoring, wheelchair loan, and magnification equipment. The special classes include language and reading for hearing-impaired students; math and Sign Language for deaf students; learning strategies for students who have learning disabilities; and courses in career preparation and computers.
