The medical center provides hospital services for people of all ages in Los Angeles County. Services include breastfeeding, cancer screening and treatment, emergency room care, geriatric services, immunizations, infertility services, mental health services, occupational medicine, neonatal intensive care, nutrition education, obstetrics, mental health services, pediatric services, physician referrals, sexual assault treatment, stress management, and well baby care. The Medical Center is designated as a Level II Trauma Center. Hospital services are provided at four locations; see site list for details. There are no geographic restrictions.
The hospital provides a complete range of general medical and surgical services as well as a variety of specialized inpatient and outpatient services. Speciality services include same-day surgery; outpatient clinics; in-hospital midwifery services; and rehabilitation services which include physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory therapy.
The hospital provides a Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) for pregnant women who are eligible for Medi-Cal. The program provides nutrition and health education, psychosocial services and basic prenatal and obstetrical care.
The medical center also offers a variety of diagnostic and treatment services for people who are patients of the hospital including radiology, laboratory, CAT Scan, MRI, nuclear medicine and ultrasound, and social services. In addition, the medical center in coordination with the USC School of Medicine provides a residency program in family practice for qualified medical residents through the Family Health Center and is a clinical training site for nursing education.
Cancer services include comprehensive multidisciplinary care including detection, diagnosis, radiation, chemotherapy, rehabilitation and home health care. The center is also active in cancer-related research. Transportation to and from the center is available through local transportation agencies or the L A Taxi Co. for ambulatory patients who live in the local area. Van transportation is also available for non-emergency medical or health related appointments and discharges.
Additional services include preventive health care and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses for adults; cryosurgery; nutrition and exercise counseling, and stress reduction instruction; and geriatric medicine which may include visits to seniors who are unable to leave their homes.
Occupational health programs for interested employers may include pre-employment exams, Workers' Compensation evaluations and treatment, and specialized services for potential employees like drug screening and physical capacity evaluations.
