Wraparound Facilitation/Community Support
Provider: SPECIAL SERVICE FOR GROUPS - OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY TRAINING PROGRAM
The agency provides family support services for homeless and at-risk families who live, primarily, is South Los Angeles and South Bay areas of Los Angeles County (SPAs 6 and 8). Services include court-ordered parenting classes, family support center/outreach services, parent child interactive therapy (PCIT), and Wraparound facilitation/Community Support for referred famlies. Service is restricted to SPAs 6 and 8 zip codes.
Court-ordered parenting may be conducted in Spanish or in English. Parents receive certification of completion to present to the court.
PCIT is an evidence based program for young children who may have serious behavioral problems such as aggressiveness, defiance, temper tantrums and oppositional behavior. Therapy focuses on improving parent-child interaction patterns to reduce the possibility of physical abuse.
The Wraparound program meets the needs of children with complicated, multi-dimensional problems. Children may be referred by the courts, DCFS or the agency's Integrated Community Service (ICS) program. The HOP ICS Famly Center which serves SPA 6 may refer as well as the Occupational Therapy Training Program. The approach involves the development of a child and family team which creates and implements a wraparound plan that identifies a set of community services and natural supports to promote success, safety, and permanence in home, school and community. The program serves referred children from L A County SPAs 6 and 8.
