Provider: CITY OF COMPTON PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT - DOLLARHIDE COMMUNITY CENTER
The department provides services for older adults through the Senior Center division located at the Dollarhide Community Center. Services include senior community service employment programs, specialized information and referral for senior issues, tax preparation assistance during tax time and a wide variety of recreational/leisure/arts instruction geared for older adults. Services are generally reserved for residents of the City of Compton.
Services available at the center also include a nutrition program provided by the Dickison Communtiy Lighted Schools, Inc. agency; see the separate entry for congregate meal and home delivered meal details.
In addition, the center hosts a variety of Senior adult education classes provided by the Compton School District. See the entry: Compton Adult Education for class details.
Employment is provided for seniors, age 55 and over, through the senior community service employment program sponsored by the L A County CSS, and funded through Federal Title V.
Recreation opportunities include bingo, dance instruction, exercise classes, field trips, games, social clubs,and sports.
Specialized information and referral services are provided for a variety of senior issues such as government programs, in-home assistance and legal issues.
Tax preparation assistance is offered during the weeks prior to the April 15 deadline.
