The center provides HIV/AIDS services for HIV positive people and for the general public in Los Angeles county. Services include disease/disability information on AIDS/HIV issues, helpline counseling and client-to-client networking via the Internet for HIV positive people; and prevention programs and workshops on AIDS/HIV issues for the affected community. There are no geographic restrictions.
The Positive Images program provides public awareness/education on AIDS/HIV issues. Services include a program of community forums that discuss personal, social, emotional, and health related issues facing the HIV positive community and their friends and family. The goal of the program is to reduce the social stigma related to HIV and to increase self-advocacy among participants.
The program administers an online chatline that provides client-to-client networking for people living with HIV and AIDS as well as for their friends and families. The website also provides links to referrals for geographically convenient community resources. The Positive Images program also provides social events, volunteer opportunities, and a social marketing campaign and website to publicize the goals of the project.
