Independent Living Skills Instruction

The agency provides services for developmentally delayed adults age 18 and older in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Services include independent living skills training, parenting skills training, and supported living. There are no geographic restrictions.

Independent living skills training includes basic skills assistance and support in communication, interpersonal relationships, basic housekeeping, laundry, use of appliances, meal preparation, personal care (bathing, grooming), shopping, recreation, money management, transportation and safety. All clients are required to pay their rent, utilities and food. All training is community based, occuring in the clients' homes or their local communities. The focus and level of service is determined on an individual basis.

Supported living services are offered to assist individuals who are traditionally not served by independent living training alone. Services include: personal assistance, training and habilitation, 24-hour emergency assistance, assistive technology/adaptive equipment, and support services to aid participation in community activities. The amount of assistance is determined individually.
