Mental Health Crisis Lines

Provider: 988 SUICIDE AND CRISIS LIFELINE

The program provides mental health services for individuals of all ages, including active military, veterans and families of military personnel and veterans, in Los Angeles County. Services include mental health hotlines and suicide prevention hotlines. There are no geographic restrictions.

The hotline is a national, 24 hour, suicide prevention service available to individuals seeking help with emotional distress or a suicidal crisis. After a short automated message, callers are connected to the nearest available suicide prevention and mental health call center participating in the network. Online chat is also available through the website.

Military personnel, veterans, and families of military personnel and veterans must select Option #1 on the menu to be connected to the appropriate call center. Specialists trained to deal with military personnel and veterans in crisis answer this line and are able to connect the caller with the suicide prevention coordinator in the caller's area. Veterans may call for general support as well.
