Maternity Homes

The program operates a faith-based maternity home for pregnant women age 18 and older in Los Angeles County. Women may stay in the program for up to two months after the birth of their child. They may have one child, age five or younger, with them already. Services, which are mandatory and restricted to residents, include assistance in applying for public benefits, budgeting classes, case management, health education, job skills training, parenting classes, infant care class and weekly individual counseling sessions and case management sessions. There are no geographic restrictions.

The program is holistic and demands a commitment by the residents to adhere to all the rules and participate in the mandatory aspects of the program. The programs case management service includes help in applying for benefits (Medi-Cal, WIC, CalWORKs, etc).

The Center for Mother and Child Wellbeing program is also providing services to mothers from the community. The program serves non-resident pregnant women age 18 and older and parenting mothers of children up to age five who do not need shelter, but do need support. Services include case management, information and referral, therapy, education and employment support, parenting classes and access to free personal care and household items.
