Fundraising Volunteer Opportunities
Provider: CAMP FIRE INLAND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
The agency provides youth services for children, ages 4 1/2 to 12 and for teens, ages 13 to 17. Services include board/committee member volunteer opportunities, boys/girls clubs, camp counselor volunteer opportunities, fundraising volunteer opportunities, residential camps, and youth development. This council serves the East San Gabriel Valley, Pomona Valley and Walnut Valley.
Youth development services are provided for boys and girls in grades K through 6. "Self-Reliance" courses help children develop confidence to react to potentially dangerous situations, resistance to negative peer pressure, and community service.
Teen programs involve young people, ages 14 to 17, in training and participation in the organization's day camps and residential camps as a Counselor In Training (CIT). Club programs provide activities, projects, events and experiences to help develop planning and decision making skills.
Residential camping opportunities are provided for children, ages 7 to 15. Activities include camping skills, swimming, hiking, canoeing, archery and nature study. Resident camp activities are conducted at the organization's Camp Nawakwa in the San Bernardino Mountains.
Parents and other committed adults are involved in the programs as leaders and in varied volunteer capacities such as office work, camp counselor, activity leader, candy fund raising sale coordinator or board member.
