Congregate Meals/Nutrition Sites

The agency provides nutrition programs for adults 60 years and older who live in the city of Los Angeles. Congregate meals are available for people who live in the City of Los Angeles. There are six meal sites within this area. The programs provide a hot, nutritious meal for seniors and also provide an opportunity for social interaction and participation in planned activities. Spouses younger than age 60 may also attend the meal. No reservations are required in advance.
The center also provides home-delivered meals for homebound adults 60 years and older who live in zip codes 90005, 90010, 90013, 90014, 90015, 90017, 90057; and portions of zip codes 90004, 90006, 90012, 90019, 90020, 90026, 90039. The Older American Act (OAA) funds meals for five days of the week. Low sodium, low sugar, meatless, soft meal, and regular meal diets are available. There is no waiting list for meals. Delivery of meals is available within two days of application; if an emergency exists, delivery is immediate.
This agency contracts with St. Vincent Meals on Wheels for all home-delivered meals. Participants may choose optional plans (not funded by the OAA) that include cold breakfast or supper; optional plans are delivered for nominal fees. People who are younger than age 60 but are homebound due to illness or disability should call St. Vincent Meals on Wheels to apply for service; see separate entry for details.
