Occupation Specific Job Training
Provider: BASSETT ADULT SCHOOL
The school provides academic, vocational, community and personal growth classes for adults and seniors who live in the Bassett/La Puente area. Services include adult basic education classes in math, reading and English; citizenship education; community adult schools; English as a Second Language; GED instruction and Spanish GED; graduation requirements programs; job training formats; literacy programs; and vocational education. There are no geographic restrictions.
Vocational education courses are offered in office occupations, computer network, word processing and software applications; medical billing, physical therapy assistant; heating and air conditioning and electrician. Home economics classes include quilting, sewing, upholstery and drapery making. The school also provides classes and services for seniors age 55 and older. These include nutrition and health, home decorative arts, physical fitness, ceramics and sewing.
The Welcome Back program provides veterans with special training and job development services for Advanced Private Security training and job placement. The program works in collaboration with local worksource centers and is federally supported with WIOA funds.
Ancillary services for enrolled students include free child care.
