Charitable Organization Registration

Provider: CALIFORNIA STATE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE - OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL - REGISTRY OF CHARITIES AND FUNDRAISERS

The agency provides consumer assistance to individuals in Los Angeles County and throughout the state of California. Services include charitable organization complaints, and charitable organization registration. There are no geographic restrictions.

The registry maintains the files and annual financial reports of registered charitable organizations available for public inspection on the Office of the Attorney General website at http://oag.ca.gov/charities

The registry accepts complaints from the public about charitable organizations regarding diversion of charitable assets, self-dealing, conflicts of interest, embezzlement, imprudent investments, failure to carry out charitable programs and fraudulent solicitation practices.

Call, write or email for information about registration and filing. Complaints must be submitted in writing. Mail or FAX a letter or complaint form; complaint form is available at the agency's website at http://oag.ca.gov/charities.
