The hospital provides health services for individuals ages 16 and older in Los Angeles County. This is an acute care rehabilitation facility for people who need inpatient or outpatient evaluation and treatment for brain or spinal cord injury, stroke, chronic pulmonary disease, back and pain disorders, neurological and neuromuscular disorders, and other disabling conditions. The hospital deals with people who are in the acute phase of their recovery and coordinates services with other Casa Colina and community programs to ensure that clients progress through a continuum of care. There are no geographic restrictions.
The inpatient programs provide comprehensive medical rehabilitation. Specialized rehabilitation programs are available for stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, pulmonary injury, orthopedic injury, and pain management.
Case managers coordinate a treatment plan which may include physical, occupational, speech, recreational, and physical therapy; psychosocial counseling for the client and family; health prevention and maintenance education; assessment for adaptive devices; vocational planning; and linkage with supportive services.
The hospital provides a comprehensive back and pain-related disorders program that offers services on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. The treatment may include physical restoration, pool therapy, work tolerance assistance, education, biofeedback, medication reduction, and psychotherapy.
The hospital provides a variety of specialized clinics and outpatient programs which may be used by people who have completed inpatient care and by people who can be helped on an outpatient only basis. Services may include diagnostic and medical care; physical, occupational, speech, and recreation therapy; functional and community readjustment training; psychosocial counseling; client and family education; recreation and fitness activities; assessment for adaptive devices; vocational planning; and linkage with support systems.
There are special hospital clinics in the areas of acute pain, women's physical therapy, sports injury, industrial injury, audiology, arthritis, amputation, orthotics/prosthetics, sexuality, podiatry, eurodynamics, hand rehabilitation, lupus, pulmonary and urology.
The hospital also provides a number of specialized outpatient services for older adults. These include diagnosis and clinical support for people who have Alzheimer's disease, arthritis, Parkinson's disease, chronic lung conditions and other chronic conditions frequently experienced by older people. In addition, nutritional counseling, fitness activities, education, resource information, respite and day care, and support groups are offered for older clients and their families.
