Preschools

The center provides early education services for children age 1 1/2 to five who are from low income families in the Los Angeles area. The preschool program follows a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for each group and provides activities which prepare children for school by teaching socialization skills and basic educational concepts. Children are divided into classrooms and are taught according to their age and stage of development. They learn colors, numbers, and letter concepts, and to identify body parts and the different senses. There are no geographic restrictions.

Other activities for children enrolled at the center include a recreational period; arts and crafts; and field trips to various places. A breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are provided at the center and are included in the tuition fee. The daily schedule for the children includes a two hour nap each afternoon. There is a ratio of eight children to one adult in the classes. In conjunction with a foster grandparent program, the center regularly receives assistance from senior citizens from the community who tell stories, play with the children, and set up tables.
